Preventing Suicide During the COVID-19 Pandemic

In 2020, the world descended into quarantine to escape the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Not surprisingly, isolation and declining mental health followed.
A 2020 survey conducted by the CDC found that 40% of adult respondents struggled with mental health concerns, 10% had seriously considered suicide, and 80% said it was more important than ever to make suicide prevention a national priority. As a result, the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance) was formed to lead the coordinated Mental Health & Suicide Prevention National Response to COVID-19. Action Alliance partnered with Urban Emu to bring the National Response campaign to life and help prevent suicide nationwide.

When the World Hit Pause, We Got to Work

We worked closely with Action Alliance to develop a messaging framework to elevate key campaign priorities and produced six videos with mental health experts for each topic. We also developed a campaign website to elevate all campaign materials and messages and a series of social media tiles with data infographics outlining the key Alliance priorities. Finally, we developed social media toolkits to help spread awareness of the campaign.
